- Preparing customs clearance documents
When moving overseas, customs formalities can be an important issue. They can be complex, they can vary from country to country and even change frequently. They may require an inspection by customs, some items may be restricted or even prohibited. Formalities and be stressful and time-consuming. Nevertheless, you cannot escape.
Because we and are partners are experienced in handling this process for you, we will help you understand the procedures and regulations. Pelichet will advise you of the documents that you must provide, the procedures that you must follow prior to the arrival of your move in some countries. We will advise about items that may prolong the customs clearance process and incur extra costs (taxes, duties, bonded customs storage charges etc). Pelichet will help you complete the customs documents needed for customs clearance. - Getting the children ready for the move
A family move can be a traumatic experience for the children. For them, home is a stable and secure environment: the atmosphere, the decoration, the furniture and fittings, the family souvenirs and even the smells are important to their internal environment. Then the external factors such as school, friends, family – an inseparable whole. Preparing the children is therefore very important to reduce the risk of their fears and even refusal of the situation. Our experience staff have, for the most part, experienced an international move, many of them on numerous occasions. They can also give testimony of friends, relatives and colleagues who have moved abroad. They can never be too much information and you can possibly adapt someone else’s experience to your own family to help the children through the event. - What do we do about our pets ?
If you are moving a pet, it must be cared for as it is a most traumatizing experience for it. Pelichet can help by handling the move of your pet through a partner specialising in this field. Special documents are required to move a pet and these documents again, vary from country to country. You should take this into consideration early on in case special vaccinations, quarantine, specific documents are likely to be required. - Should I move my car ?
When moving by road, you can drive your car or have it transported for you either by a transport company or on board the removal truck along with your belongings. For destinations further a field, your car could be loaded into the overseas container or sometimes by specialized roll-on / roll-off operators.
Whatever the solution, it is important to ensure that the necessary customs procedures can be met as many countries have very particular requirements which must be fulfilled before you can import the vehicle. If these cannot be met, it may delay your whole shipment and possibly incur high import charges. - Moving domestic appliances
We can protect all your appliances in the best possible way for shipment. Flat screen TVs can be packed and placed into wooden crates and normal household appliances protected with export blankets.
However, in some cases where there is a difference in voltage 110v to 220/230 and vice versa, even the use of a transformer is sometimes not recommended so you should check with the manufacturer.
We can provide advice during the pre-move survey. - Furniture collections
Should we move old or antique items of furniture ? Will the change in climatic conditions cause damage ? Is climatic change damage covered by insurance ? Is storage a better alterative ?
Again, your destination is crucial to answer these questions and we will be more than happy to advise during the pre-move survey. - Food and alcohol
Can we include food in our shipment ? Under what circumstances ? Are there any restrictions? Will we find a similar baby food in our destination country ? Can we ship wine and will there be taxes ? - Medicines
Can we ship medicines with our household goods ? Do we need vaccinations before our departure ? Is a medical check up recommended or required ? Is it possible to import prescription drugs through customs ? Should the prescription be translated by a registered translator ? - Valuable and firearms
Can jewellery and valuables be included in our shipment? Can items made of ivory be shipped ? Is it possible to ship firearms or weapons ? If so, is a licence required ?

We can offer solutions in closed, sealed containers or in our sealed self store facility. All of our buildings are equipped with the latest fire detection and prevention devices (smoke alarms, sprinklers, hoses) directly linked into the local fire brigade. Furthermore, our buildings are protected 24 / 7 thanks to contracts with Protectas and Securitas who have access to our state of the art security installations – real-time digital surveillance throughout.
We also carry out weekly hygrometric measurements in order to detect important climatic changes. This allows us to take the necessary steps to control the conditions inside our facilities to ensure the optimal storage conditions. This is particularly important for valuable art work as well as some motor vehicles.
